All Saints’ Church, Renhold, Bedfordshire, England

It has been a very busy November marked with a number of special events.

The whole village came together for “Renhold Remembers” on the 11th November, with the laying of wreaths at the War Memorial followed by a service in Church. Over 100 people attended to remember those that had given their lives for us. In the evening the Church filled again for Remembrance songs of Praise.

The Bell Ringers played a special part with half muffled bells in the morning and then they rang a full peel from 3.30pm, just as the bells had rung out 100 years ago to mark the end of WW1.

The Church windows had been decorated by village organisations and together with the silhouettes around the Parish the whole event was really poignant and moving. A fitting tribute.

The night before this, the Friends of All Saints held a quiz to raise money for the Church, a very fun evening with a lot of baffled faces at times but the Chapel finally won - CONGRATULATIONS!

On 28th November older Children from the village School joined us for a specially adapted Morning Eucharist, it was great to share a service together. In the afternoon the younger children held lots of activities in the Church to mark the beginning of Advent.

Looking ahead :-

That feeling of expectation is building as we journey together through advent. There are special services throughout December (See front page for details) starting on Sunday 2nd when we light the first candle on the Advent Wreath.

The popular Carol Service with Lessons and Carols is on 19th December at 7pm and will be followed by mince pies and Mulled Wine in the Chapter House.

On Christmas Eve we have our famous Crib Service at 4pm. Everyone is welcome and every child is invited to choose dressing up clothes and take part in the service.  At 11pm it is our Midnight Mass Service - the first celebration of Christmas (and the chance to sing the last verse of ‘O Come All ye Faithfull’!).

On Christmas Day, we celebrate Christmas together at 11.00am in a service that is suitable for all.
